Rain : December to March. Tourism : All year Cusco is a cosmopolitan city catering for visitors from many different countries. The people are very friendly helpful and welcoming. In pre-Columbian historical terms, Cusco was a relatively modern metropolis constructed at the height of the Inka´s power. The city was designed by Pachacuti Inca, the ninth ruler, between 1438 and 1471. After their arrival in 1532, the spaniards began to destroy the Inca constructions especially those of religious use, using the existing stones build their new colonial city. In 1650 a violent earthquake destroyed almost all the colonial buildings, however the remaining Inca constructions survived. Cusco is the perfect location for visiting Perú´s diverse attractions in the southern region. Only a half-hour flight from the snowcapped Andes, you will find the untamed Amazon jungle, filled with exotic wildlife, flora, gold-mining, and a vibrant history of primitive native communities. From Cusco there is train service to Lake Titicaca and the picturesque city of Arequipa, framed by three magnificent volcanoes.
